This is an industry term for customer's own material.
Sometimes customers have already located the perfect fabric for their treatment or have bought discontinued fabric on sale.
Many custom fabricators either will not work with
C.O.M. or charge extra to use it.

The Silken Scissor is happy to work with your C.O.M. or discontinued fabric at
NO EXTRA CHARGE!

Treatments made from silk cannot be
compared when it comes to beauty.
When choosing silk for your window treatment,
it's important to keep the following in mind:

  • Sunlight will bleach and break down the fibers of ALL silk fabrics.
  • Silk hanging in a window with any amount of direct sunlight should be lined with blackout lining.
  • When making any silk panels, consider putting a contrasting band of another fabric on the edge. This will protect the side hem from bleaching and disintegrating over time.
  • Silk by itself is very thin. Interlining is often recommended in silk treatments to give the silk body, luxury and weight.
